You Might Need a New Kitchen If...

Do you find any opportunity to not have to cook in your kitchen? Does the thought of trying to pull a meal together in a space that is dysfunctional and poorly decorated send chills down your spine? If you’re saying yes, then it’s definitely time to remodel your kitchen. Even though those thoughts might send you right into a showroom, there are some other qualities your kitchen might be showing that is surly its way of telling you that it’s time to remodel.

Take a good, hard look

Sometimes the need for a kitchen remodel just sneaks up on you. The space may have been great when you first moved into you home (maybe you were seeing it through rose colored glasses), but now you can’t bear to cook, have a drink or even hang out in the space. Let’s look at some of the most common signs that it’s time for you to remodel your kitchen.
  1. Your layout is all wrong: In a space where moving efficiently is key to prepping a meal, a bad layout can really throw you for a loop. If you’re constantly running from one area to another just to grab pots and pans, you need to reconsider your layout in your new kitchen and opt for a better kitchen workflow.
  2. Your kitchen is falling to pieces: This might be obvious to some, but we often find that people will let a wobbly drawer or a broken door stay that way for years. You learn to work around it, right? It’s time for an update if you’re working around broken or damaged pieces in your kitchen. You deserve to have a fully functional kitchen.
  3. You don’t have enough storage: Not only is a bad layout bad for business in the kitchen; so is clutter. If you’re stacking pots and pans in your pantry just to get them out of the way, you definitely need more storage options in your kitchen. Go ahead and create a kitchen that has a place for everything.
  4. You’re ready to sell: Remodeling a kitchen because you’re about to sell sounds crazy right? Not so much. Basic updates to your home can attract buyers and make them more likely to purchase. The kitchen is one of the big deciding factors in home buying, so a few updates can make your home stand out from the rest.
  5. Your kitchen looks like a picture from the 60’s: Even if you love the feel of your “old” home, that doesn’t mean that your kitchen needs to look like it hasn’t been updated since the 60’s. Adding updated cabinetry and appliances can make a world of difference, while still looking like the space belongs in this era.
You can come up with any reason to remodel your home, but the fact of the matter is that sometimes updating your kitchen is more of a “need to” situation than a “want to” situation. So go take a hard look at your kitchen and see if it’s telling you it needs an update.
